Do you remember when you resisted owning a computer because you resisted change? Or, you were not sure if you could get the support and help if you needed it? And when you finally bought your first computer, you set it up with some excitement and perhaps a little apprehension....come on, you can admit it!
You get your system set up and you hesitantly start to use it, fearful of pressing a wrong key that will send smoke out of the back while the keyboard melts into an unrecognizable blob of plastic and the mouse scurries away in fear! I know some of you have thought that...you've told me!
Now, as time goes on, you have become more and more dependent on your computer. And, all of a sudden, CRASH! - your computer isn't working! Were you the victim of a malicious computer virus? Computer viruses have wormed their way into unsuspecting systems, creating havoc. A program stops, a hard drive just clicks, the letters you type on the keyboard are not the same ones appearing on the screen...if the screen is showing anything at all...what to do? Do you need computer help?
You can use a hammer - WAIT! You don't have to do that. You could go through some basic trouble shooting techniques that may be described in your user's manual. Or, you can take your system to a computer store and pay $75-100 just to have them say your computer isn't working (as if you didn't already know) and charge you even more money to fix it.
You could contact a consultant who may, or may not, know what to do and instead of admitting that he doesn't know how to fix your computer, he simply tries to convince you to buy a new, improved, upgrade.
